
SYDNEY KEIR
Sydney Keir started her formal training in Toronto, Ontario at Canada's National Ballet School and Karpov Ballet Academy. She later completed her bachelor’s degree in the Ailey Fordham BFA Program, a joint program between Fordham University and the Ailey School, where she pursued a double major in dance and communications/media studies. She has also attended intensive training programs at Jacob’s Pillow contemporary program, Arts Umbrella, Hubbard Street Dance, National Ballet of Canada and the Saint Petersburg Dance Open Festival.
She has performed with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Canadian Opera Company, Ardani Arts Management, National Ballet of Canada, Nathaniel Hunt Dance Project, Monica Hogan Dance Company, Cadence Contemporary Ballet, Karpov Ballet, Ballet Jorgen, Awaken Dance Theater and Buglisi Dance Theatre.
She had performed works by Alvin Ailey, Jose Límon, Bill T. Jones, Crystal Pite, Medhi Walerski, Mats Ek, Brice Mousset, Darshan Bhuller, Robyn Mineko Williams, Vladimir Varnava, Jae Man Joo, Jennifer Archibald, Bradley Shelver, Robert Wilson, Adrienne Hurd, Hope Boykin, Tom Gold, and James Kudelka.
In 2017, Sydney was selected to perform in Memoria, choreographed by Alvin Ailey and performed alongside The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (AAADT) in their 2017 City Center Season. Sydney was also an original cast member of the international touring show Isadora featuring Natalia Osipova.
Currently, Sydney is making her Canadian Opera Debut as a dancer in the Robert Wilson production of Puccini’s Turandot at the Four Seasons Center for Performing Arts in Toronto.
